Lascaux IV, 2017

Lascaux, France
Architect: Snøhetta
Exhibition designer: Casson Mann

The magnificent cave paintings of Lascaux sadly can no longer be visited due to the damage tourists would unwittingly cause to these 20,000-year-old treasures. Norwegian practice Snøhetta was brought in to create Lascaux IV, a new building which contains facsimiles of the paintings and Casson Mann’s exhibition design about the World Heritage Site caves. Cate St Hill visited the project for Blueprint 352 — read her review here.
